For various reasons there is currently a shortage of referees at the league's disposal. Just like players, referees pick up injuries, have work or family committments, and of course get older and eventually retire from the game!
All of which will mean that games will start to go uncovered by a fully qualified referee from this and possibly forthcoming Sundays. The games will of course have to go ahead with someone in charge agreed upon by both clubs, but it's not the ideal situation that either the clubs involved, or the league would like to be in.
The next generation of referees need to be found before this situation gets progressively worse over the coming seasons, but in the short term perhaps you or your club know of a "potential budding referee" who could assist the league and it's clubs with this current problem.
Moving forward, referee courses are held regulary for ex-players (perhaps) or anyone who would like to get/remain involved with Sunday football. Feedback from member clubs and referees so far this season is that both parties are shall we say "enjoying each others company" more, and as such rating scores for both clubs and referees have risen considerably in many cases.
Whether short or long term, if you can help the league and it's member clubs with this problem or would like to know more about how to train to become a fully qualified referee, then please contact referees secretary Tim Amans on 07792-859753.
